Feel the aversion to 21st century literature deeply. I also don't have a real reason other than I think prose used to be prettier and more interesting and modern publishing seems SEO-oriented more than genuinely artful? IDK! But what I do know is Lolita rules.
i'm sure there are perfectly good contemporary fiction authors and i'm just being obtuse but i'm just *personally* more interested in exploring the older authors that i haven't read yet because that just feels more interesting to me and a better use of my time lol. also i hate the homogenized slop of modern book covers and that's slightly baseless but it turns me off as well.
Pale Fire is my favorite novel ever, I hope you love it
it's one of brian's favorites too!! i'm looking forward to it.
