I LOVED Wounds when I first saw it. More than the super respectable Under the Shadow. I love this write up and now I'm really wondering how much it would stand up to rewatch scrutiny.
thank you peter! yeah, i liked it a lot more than Under the Shadow too. i read a good review from someone on letterboxd that dug into how the movie just doesn't do enough with its horror elements to the extent that's there's barely any point in having made it a horror movie at all, and that was my issue with it. i was definitely more critical of Wounds on a revisit but i still prefer it. it's fun!!!
I really enjoyed this film as well, a lot of motifs, symbolism, and in-depth references. I rewatched this film 4 times, to scrutinize what was going on, and could really connect the dots of the hidden antagonist and force, and how towards the end of the movie, Will, ends up letting an evil from another dimension come out anywho.
